Smaran Ravichandran Replaces Injured Adam Zampa in SRH Squad

Sunrisers Hyderabad have brought in young Karnataka batter Ravichandran Smaran as a replacement for the injured Adam Zampa, according to an official IPL media advisory released on Monday (April 14). The update also confirmed that Ayush Mhatre has joined Chennai Super Kings as a replacement for Ruturaj Gaikwad, as previously reported by Cricbuzz.

Smaran, a 21-year-old left-handed batter, joins the SRH camp at his base price of INR 30 lakh. He has shown impressive form in domestic cricket, having scored over 500 runs in just seven first-class matches at an outstanding average of 64.50, which includes a double century against Punjab. In List A cricket, he has piled up 433 runs from 10 matches at an average of 72.16, with two centuries to his name. In the shortest format, Smaran has scored 170 runs in six T20 outings, boasting a strike rate of 170.

CSK’s replacement signing, Ayush Mhatre, also comes in at a base price of INR 30 lakh. The Mumbai batter fills in for Gaikwad, who is currently sidelined due to injury.

Both SRH and CSK currently find themselves in the lower half of the IPL 2025 points table and will be hoping their new additions can inject fresh energy as the tournament progresses.
